# Deploying a FieldKit Water--questions and troubleshooting

Last week, a few FieldKit team members (including myself) went to Brooklyn to deploy a FieldKit Water and FieldKit Distance station. It really underlined how complex the installation process can be, so I thought I’d start a new thread for anyone who wants help figuring out how to deploy their FieldKit Water securely and effectively. Our team is happy to answer any questions, and as I finish prepping a few blog posts and videos about the experience, I’ll share those here too.

Hi Lindsay, I was wondering what has worked the best for protecting your probes when deploying them? Maybe placing them in a pvc pipe with several holes drilled through it?

For some of our deployments, we’ve used this: [Amazon.com](https://www.amazon.com/Innovative-Marine-Custom-Cradle-Magnetic/dp/B0BHMDP22S/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1RHORZ6QWOZNK&keywords=magnetic+probe+holder+aquarium&qid=1699314903&sprefix=aquarium+probe+h%2Caps%2C273&sr=8-3)  
I’ve also just put the probes straight in the water without a support by threading the cables through a piece of flexible conduit.
